Travel Agents in Philippines should add Cultural Dance to thier Historical and Heritage Tours

The Philippine ( Filipino) Cultural Dance is one of the most historical and traditional tourist attractions located in the Philippines. This blog is of course a waist of time direct to the Agents or Agency's. I have already sent thousand of emails which are not replied. So now i will write it here. Still nothing might happen, but if i can get enough backing, and put enough pressure on these places maybe they will then start to think to add the Filipino Cultural Dance to their tours.

I guess the first question to answer is, do travelers like it. Is is sellable. Well actually whether sellable or not, it should be included in all Cultural , Heritage, and Historical Tours. You cant sell out your culture..... But anyways, lets really look at whats important in Philippines, is it sellable????

The following agency's starting selling us direct online to their clients in Japan, Europe, Northern America. Lets see if this will answer the question.....

Attic Tours - (started June of 2009) sold over 1800 packages to customers
H.I.S Tours - (started August of 2009) sold over 2000 packages to customers
JR Express - ( started August of 2009) sold over 800 packages to customers
Rajah Tours _ (started August of 2009) sold over 200 packages to customers
PTN Travel - ( started August of 2009) sold over 100 packages to customers
KR Travel and Tours ( started June 2009) sold over 100 packages to customers
Many Others

All others combined, plus walk in, plus Internet bookings, we have averaged serving 500 to 1000 customers per month since opening in May 2009. Now you can put the math with these figures that the agency's charge their guests. Now i assume the question if it sellable is already answered.

Now you might say, well yes, its sellable to foreigners, but its not sellable to local travelers. Could be true. But what have you waisted..... if you list it as a single tour and no one takes it. Its just a space on the website with some words and maybe a few pictures and little work. If you only sell 10 per year. Its not hurt you any to have it... don't cost you anything expect the time to add it to the website......... Has it ??????????

Now the question of if it should be added to City Tours and Heritage and Cultural Tours. Well this is actually not a question of if its sellable or not. It a question of honor, respect, patriotism. In Cebu did you choose the Fort San Pedro, or The Mactan Shrine, or The Tioest Temple or any of the others because its sellable. NO..... because its part of the history and culture of this country. How much MORE, the Filipino Cultural and Folk Dances. A tourist can see these shrine's and wonderful places, but does that actually let them a see a real person, in real Native costume, showing the actual meaning of life here in the Philippines through dance..... It should be added to the tours...... It should be...... A small fee, no more than what most of the other attractions charge, and they can witness a 30 minute show of this wonderful cultural experience. Especially while as close to the Mactan Shrine as all these tours go..... Now i could see maybe how someone just taking a Cebu City only tour could not experience this logistically. But The Jungle is only 10 minutes from the Mactan Shrine.

So I guess the biggest question is this,,, why would you not do it.. Why would you not add this to your tours???? Or why would you not sell it as just a single package??? I cant see how it would hurt anything..... Seems the foreign agency's get this concept.... Why can the others get it????
Must boil down to they get it but don't care, it will be too much time to add to the web site, or what is actually the reason??????

Now i have had Blue Horizon Travel and Tours tell me they will not add this, because most guest want to see a Cultural Show in the Resorts... ( they have been the only one who has verbally said they wont add) Well there is a word for that that starts with BULL ------ . The guests have no choice but to see the show in the Resort that they will book for them. Look on the Web, look on all the travel guides, ask the guides in Cebu.... Who has the best, most professional, customer satisfactory show, building, dancers, food. High class or low class people all the same results.

Do you want to give you guests the best, or just what you can make the most money on?????
Do you care about the quality of representation of The Philippine Country in Cultural Dance???

Well of course you might say, well they are foreigners here, they never seen a show before, they wont realize if its good or not....... People are smarter than you think...... They know, they remember, check the web, look at the reviews for the Philippines, what everyone is complaining of, what are the same things over and over and over, that are being said. Poor quality service, overcharging, not caring about the customer, worried only about making something for themselves. I think the biggest thing here is, be very curitous, friendly, and accommodating until you get there money...... Then once you got it..... Oh well,,,,,,,,

PROOF : Philippines is one of the Only country's that require money up front for almost everything, including bookings of hotels, here its pay before you play...... Now why do you think that philosophy was adopted......... Of course, i sure they will complain so if we get their money first, then they wont have a choice........ Oh and getting a refund for something you don't like here,,,,,,,,, better chance of getting struck by lighting..... Now this does not mean everyone. They are lots of good places and business here..... I just trying to make the point of most of the thinking, that causes The Filipino Cultural Dances not to be included with some of these agency's........

If a customer stops here, and he says what do you have. I say " Cultural / Variety Shows with Dinner " He might say, oh we don't want that. Then i will say ok, tell me what you are looking for so i can recommend something. I will recommend other restaurants, other places, i will try to help them find what they are looking for. In general here, at most other establishments, they are very ready to help you, until they find out you want something else. Then they seem to not care, or will recommend nothing, even if they know of something..... NOT ALL. But most...

So I am sure i waisted my time writing this, but i feel much better. Maybe someone will read it and it will make a small change somehow...... If you think i am down on the Philippines, you are wrong.... I love it here, I think its one of the most greatest travel destinations in Asia. I always promote and help travel here and The Cultural Dance. I am writing things like this, to put it out there in peoples faces. To give them hard love..... Its not the country, its not the beauty, its not the place....... Its the people.......... Everything i will say, I will have proof to back it up......

Responsibility in the Internet and Travel Guides

Throughout my time searching the internet. I have googled many things about the Philippines and different catagories. What I have found in 40% of all the sites that involve Travel Guides, Hotel Guides, Blogs, Forums, and many other is that they are all way out of date. With a lot of the sites not been updated or even edited for 5 to 10 years. I think this is a embarassment and also a makes the Philippines look worse. All people who get on the internet and start these different sites, need to be responsible to take care of them, or delete them if they are not going to keep them updated. Especially with travel guides, hotel guides, food guides, review places. One day i clicked on four different sites either to find them not working, or so out of date, and even some are copy and paste from other sites that are also out of date. So as bloggers, forum users, and travel guides creators. We must be held accountable to be responisble to take care of these sites. Can you just imagine how many emails and other inquirys are sent to these sites by travelers that dont ever get a reply. Even hotel, resort web sites are sometimes weeks behind. The Philippines has a big problem with knowing how to answer emails and be responsible on the internet. This needs to change. When you are posting something on the internet, you are not only representing yourself, but a entire nation and people. Lets not get more bad publicity. Lets start making change for better, instead of being labled the same year after year after year.
