Cebu, Philippines - Applications of Life

While living here and operating one of the most successful Restaurants in Cebu. The Jungle Restaurant and Cultural Entertainment Center. Showcasing the Filipino Cultural Dance, along with Variety dance, Fire Eaters, and Fire Dancers. http://thejunglerestaurant.weebly.com/

I have often pondered the applications of life. I will share a few of my thought with you. Please apply these to what ever situation or group of people you might think fits.

Hungry or Full

A hungry young man walking along a beautiful meadow. Seeing a small apple tree in the distance, he noticed a large, red, ripe, single apple hanging just out of reach. Upon reaching the tree the young man sits down among a pile of rocks. " I will sit here and the apple will fall, then i can eat it and be very full" said the young man. After hours and hours of waiting, nothing had happened. Along came another young man who watched the other man sitting at the base of the small tree.

Wondering what he might be doing, the man asked.. " Sir, why do you sit in the heat of the day under a tree ". The other man replied, " I am waiting for this apple to fall so i wont be hungry."

Confused in his actions, the man said, " Sir why not pick up one of the stones in which you sit, and knock the apple off the branch." Never experiencing anything like that, the young man thought, what silliness to waist my time and energy throwing a rock. I will just wait for it to fall.

After hours and hours of waiting the apple never fell. So the young man got up and walked away, hungry and discouraged of all the time he had spent there. After a little while, the young man heard a noise. He turned around to see the other young man he had met before, walk up under the tree and pick up a rock, throw it and the apple fell into his hands. He ate and was very full.

MORAL : Nothing is given to you for free in life. You have to work at what ever you want. When given a opportunity and good advice to obtain a better outcome. Does not matter if you agree with it or not, if you have experience or not, give it a try and you will walk away full. Do nothing and be lazy, and wait for opportunity to fall into your hands, then you will go away hungry. Don't feel sorry for yourself or expect others to pity you. Stop making excuses, you done it to yourself.

Smart and Successful or Selfish and Failure

The End of Time has come. The world is destroyed. A small group of survivors are all that's left. Knowing to rebuild mankind and the world, they will have to work together very close and make good decisions. In the group was a male doctor, a female cook, and male carpenter, a female factory worker, and Johnny, a male farmer. Johnny had really become friends with everyone, except for the doctor. The doctor was a very strict man, with no room for irresponsibility, or acting foolish. While crossing the river to get to their home, a large wave came and overturned the boat. Panic set in and Johnny was the only one on board. All the people was screaming and saying save me, save me. Looking around Johnny only had three life vests he could throw out to the group. Being four people in the water, Johnny had a great delima facing him. This is the hope of mankind, this is the success or failure of a new start. Thinking very hard Johnny really liked the female factory worker. She was very pretty and they could marry and have lots of baby's together. Then he thought, oh we will surely need shelter, the carpenter can give us allot of shelter. Of course he said without a cook, we can not eat, that will mean death for sure to us all. Thinking of the strictness and dislike of the doctor, Johnny said, well even though i know he is important, i feel we can survive without him. We can do fine. So that's the way it went. The doctor slipped away from site and all the other were saved.

Johnny feeling so good about his decision, was very happy. So life went on, Johnny farmed, the cook cooked, the carpenter built, and the couple made baby's. One day after a great meal, inside their new home, everyone started feeling very ill. What has happened?? Johnny ask the carpenter, " What can you do ?" Then asked the cook " what can you do?" Then again he asked the factory worker and himself.... Soon everyone was so very ill, they all passed away. Johnny being the last one left, while laying on his bed. The last thoughts going through his mind was, what a great meal, and large harvest, and grand home, and beautiful wife. None of that could save us.. We all could have learned to build, cook, and farm. I should have made a more responsible decision, not caring for my wants and needs, but the good of the group as a whole.

MORAL : Sometimes in life, business, you have to make decisions and take advice from people you really might not like. Sometimes you need to allow those people as business partners, or accept their product. Sometimes you have to accept people in the lives of your loved ones, to have a better outcome. Its better accept someone you might not like or agree with, and let go someone who is a friend, but can not contribute. Making selfish decisions is irresponsible. It will only cause hurt to you and others. To hurt your self is your right. To hurt others - no one has the right to do that.....

Example : Here in my business, quality of shows and customer service is what keeps us going. I had a wonderful, nice, sweet young lady who worked for me as a dancer. Always nice, always on time, always trying very hard. Through many weeks of trying and practice, it was to the point that i seen, she was just not able to perform to standards in which will help this business prosper. Knowing she had baby to support, and needing work, with a heavy heart I still had to terminate her from the dance group. She had done nothing wrong, but not only was she hurting the quality of my show, which in return will hurt future business, which in return will cause others to loose their jobs.... ( But i did move her to another position in the business and things are working out well )

On the other hand, I have a dancer who works for me. Very talented, very great. Problem is has a very bad attitude, thinks they are the greatest. Always pushing rules, coming in late, and just in general a real but hole.... Sometimes i have to grit my teeth so hard even when they pass by me.. But i told my wife, " I just have to grin and bear it, even if it goes against what i believe in." They help bring customers in, which in return helps the business, which in return helps others to keep jobs, and others to get jobs in the future. The best i can do is search for someone to replace this person with the same quality's and talent. Until then, just take it .....
